Fixed-site service

Open from 21 August 2025 at 95 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, the Victorian Pill Testing Service offers access every Thursday to Saturday to comprehensive testing, extended consultation times, and streamlined referrals to other health and social services.

The fixed site service is staffed by qualified professionals including chemists who analyse samples, trained healthcare workers and peer harm reduction staff. The technical team holds expertise in chemistry, pharmacology and forensic science.

Advanced laboratory equipment enables the detection of a wide range of substances, including most pills, capsules, powders, crystals or liquids, plus high-potency opioids like fentanyl and nitazenes. The fixed site also offers more comprehensive testing capabilities, including purity analysis for some substances.

When dangerous substances like synthetic opioids are detected, we’ll send out a notification.

Our service never tells anyone that their drugs are ‘safe,’ ‘good,’ or ‘pure.’ We provide accurate information about what substances are in the sample and offer harm reduction advice to help people make safer choices.

A benefit of our service is that users engage in a tailored health conversation that considers their personal circumstances, including health conditions, medications, previous experiences with drugs, and how they intend to use the substances.

Our fixed-site service is legal and anonymous. No identifying information is collected and you cannot be arrested or charged for accessing the service. Outside of the service area, the usual laws regarding possession apply.
